Hans is professor Emeritus of Strategic Management and Business Policy at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and founder and former Head of the University’s Department of Strategic Management, Marketing, and Tourism. He is author of several path-breaking articles and books on strategy and leadership. His Harvard Business Review article “Are you a strategist or just a manager?” is widely ready by executives worldwide and part of the MBA core programme at Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School and other leading institutions.
On Strategy and Leadership he has published in Long Range Planning, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, European Business Forum, European Management Journal, Harvard Business Manager, Industrial Marketing Management, and other international journals.
His books on strategic management are among the most widely read in German speaking countries; his recent book on leadership, already in its 4th edition, is a bestseller in continental Europe.
Before joining academia he has held a number of management positions in multinational companies in the oil and gas industry in Italy and Austria. Today, he is member of the supervisory board of companies in Germany, Austria, and Italy.

Andreas has over 10 years of business experience in marketing and general management: his roles at Aventis SA and Bayer AG have included Strategic Planner (based in Bridgewater, USA), Head of Strategic Projects Asia Pacific (based in Tokyo, Japan), CFO of two country subsidiaries (based in West and South Africa), and, most recently, Global Marketing Manager with worldwide P&L responsibility for Bayer AG's best selling product range.
Andreas is also a visiting professor at Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) and at Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) where he teaches Strategic Pricing and Strategic Marketing.
His articles on pricing and business/marketing strategy have been published in the Financial Times Handbook of Management, Journal of Business Strategy, Industrial Marketing Management, Long Range Planning, and Business Strategy Review.
On pricing he frequently speaks at international conferences and is part of the core faculty of the Professional Pricing Society.
